Dance Department Announces Fall Concerts

The dance department has an eclectic roster of events planned for the fall, from the Latina Dance Project and the North Carolina Dance Festival to faculty and student concerts.


August
o 8 p.m. Aug. 24. Frank Vulpi Musicians Concert. Free.
o 8 p.m. Aug. 26. Contact Improvisation Event with John Gamble. Free.


September
o 8 p.m. Sept. 8 and 9; 2 p.m. Sept. 9 (tentative). Latina Dance Project presents “Coyolxauhqui ReMembers.” This event has been rescheduled from April 2006. Tickets: $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors and children, and $6 for UNCG students with ID.
o 8 p.m. Sept. 30. Alumni Homecoming Dance Concert featuring Emily Daughtridge (BFA 1996), Tiffany Rhynard (BA 1998), Heather Nabors (MFA 1999), Valerie Midgett (MFA 1995), Ashlee Ramsey (BFA 2004). Tickets $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and children, and $5 for UNCG students with ID.


October - North Carolina Dance Festival

Tickets $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors and children, and $6 for UNCG students with ID.
o 8 p.m. Oct. 19; 2 p.m. Oct. 19 (tentative). Local artists concert featuring Heidi Echols Godfrey, Robin Gee, Sidelong Dance Company and Sean Sullivan.
o 8 p.m. Oct. 20. Touring artists concert: Duane Cyrus (UNCG), the John Gamble Dance Theater (UNCG), Justin Tornow (Charlotte), E.E. Balco (Charlotte), Carol Finley (Raleigh), Amy Pierce (Wilmington), Rodger Belman (Greenville), and the Van Dyke Dance Group (Greensboro)
o 8 p.m. Oct. 21. Touring artists concert: Duane Cyrus (UNCG), the John Gamble Dance Theater (UNCG), Justin Tornow (Charlotte), E.E. Balco (Charlotte), Carol Finley (Raleigh), Amy Pierce (Wilmington), Rodger Belman (Greenville), and the Van Dyke Dance Group (Greensboro)


November

o 8 p.m. Nov. 29 and 30. Faculty Concert. Tickets $10 for general, $7 for seniors and children and $5 for UNCG students.


December
o 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2. Faculty Concert. Tickets $10 for general, $7 for seniors and children and $5 for UNCG students.

All events take place at the UNCG Dance Theatre at the corner of Walker Avenue and Kenilworth Street. Tickets are available online or by calling (336) 334-4849.
