Mame will come to UNCG on Feb. 12.
One of the longest-running shows in Broadway will light up UNCG.
“Mame” will be performed at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 in Aycock Auditorium as part of the University Concert/Lecture Series. Tickets are $35, $30 or $25 for adults and $33, $28 or $23 for seniors, children or non-UNCG students. Reduced ticket prices available for UNCG students.
Based on the novel by Patrick Dennis, a flamboyant socialite of 1928 New York society, Auntie Mame, discovers she must raise her 10-year-old nephew, Patrick, according to her brother’s will. After the stock market crash of 1929 wipes out her fortune, Mame must enter the workforce. The ever-young Auntie Mame and Patrick experience zany adventures that are highlighted by songs such as “Bosom Buddies” and “That’s How Young I Feel.”
The Wall Street Journal called the musical “a story of a woman of spirit, told with spirit and embellished with pleasant song.” The New York Times said it was “one of the more entertaining musicals in town.”
“Mame” comes to UNCG as part of the UC/LS, which includes the upcoming Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana on Feb. 24 and the modern dance troupe MOMIX performing “Passion” on April 6.
