University Holds Education Career Day Jan. 30

By , University Relations

Representatives from 115 school systems in 11 states are expected to attend UNCG's Education Career Day Jan. 30.

The event will take place 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Cone Ballroom of Elliott University Center. The UNCG Career Services Center and School of Education are sponsoring the event.

The job fair is for UNCG students who are currently seeking teacher certification, in addition to students seeking positions in school counseling, library science, social work, speech pathology, nursing, dietetics and administration. It is also open to alumni and other interested persons. For details, call the Career Services Center at 334-5454.

Many of the recruiters are coming from Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Connecticut, California and New York. They will join those from approximately 75 North Carolina school systems.

"The job market for educators continues to be excellent," said Janice Simpson, an assistant director of the UNCG Career Services Center. "The employers who registered for this event indicated strong needs in the areas of elementary and middle grades teaching, the sciences, mathematics, special education, foreign languages, English, history, school counseling and speech pathology.

"While our Education Career Day is primarily geared to students and alumni, it is open to the community as well. Meeting with the recruiters will enable our students to see what opportunities in the field of education are available in North Carolina, as well as elsewhere in the country."
