The five-panel display at Piedmont Triad International Airport.
Flying out of Piedmont Triad International Airport just got a little more educational.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has installed a new and innovative advertising display at the airport. Located at the top of the center escalator in the airport, the display consists of five, three-by-eight-feet panels that host 3-D images of a student and faculty member. The student is Donald Hughes, a student in the Bryan School of Business. The faculty member is Dr. Hephzibah Roskelly, of the Department of English.
“This medium is the first of its kind for higher education promotion in an airport, and was inspired by an athletics display for Marquette University, which used the 3-D effect,” said Debbie Schallock, who as marketing director for UNCG spearheaded the effort.
The airport display is part of the university’s ongoing marketing efforts to build public awareness of the university: The university has created a 30-second commercial spot that is playing on Time Warner Cable channels and at Greensboro’s Horizon Ball Park, and a series of advertisements are appearing in Time, Sports Illustrated, US News & World Report, Newsweek, and Our State magazines.
“The airport display strengthens UNCG’s community partnership and commitment with PTI by extending the current contract for an additional three years,” Schallock said.
