Superintendents Scholars Named at UNCG

Several high school graduates have received $1,000 Superintendents’ Scholarships for study at UNCG during the 2006-07 academic year.

The scholarships are renewable for four years of study at UNCG, so that each has a total value of $4,000. Under the program, UNCG selects recipients from participating schools based on academic achievement. To qualify for the Superintendents’ Scholarships, high school seniors must be in the top 10 percent of their class, have a minimum weighted cumulative grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0, and have a score of 1200 on the Scholastic Achievement Test Part I.

The winners and their high schools are:
• Alamance County – Jonathan A. Albright, Graham High School; Veronica M. Allen, Williams High School; and Bradley D. Mickel, Southern Alamance High School.
• Caswell County – TeShecca M. Pierce, Bartlett Yancey High School.
• Chatham County – Sarah E. Helmer, Jordan Matthews High School, and Margaret T. Hinrichs, Chatham Central High School.
• Davidson County – Adam C. Carter, Thomasville Senior High School; Samantha A. Hicks, East Davidson High School; Stephen A. Huntley, Central Davidson Senior High School; Ja-Leesa S. Norman, West Davidson High School; and Casey L. Strange, North Davidson Senior High School.
• Forsyth County – Jeffrey T. Brubaker, Mount Tabor High School; Danielle E. Gardner, North Forsyth High School; Scott T. Miller, Glenn High School; and Benjamin Parsonage, R.J. Reynolds High School.
• Guilford County – Emily S. Blocker, Western Guilford High School; Bridgette N. Clifton, Southeast Guilford High School; Amanda R. Kohn, Southwest Guilford High School; Eric J. Velarde, Southern Guilford High School; and Molly G. Walsh, Page High School.
• Randolph County – Brittany R. Atkinson, Asheboro High School; Justin M. Bost, Trinity High School; Christina M. Johnson, Southwestern Randolph High School; and Molly L. Tuck, Eastern Randolph High School.
• Rockingham County – Catherine G. Pergerson, Reidsville Senior High School.
• Stokes County – Savannah D. Bennett, South Stokes Senior High School.
• Surry County – Ashley L. Shelton, North Surry High School.
• Yadkin County – Amy L. Phillips, Forbush High School.

Participating school systems are Alamance County Schools, Asheboro City Schools, Burlington City Schools, Caswell County Schools, Davidson County Schools, Davie County Schools, Guilford County Schools, Lexington City Schools, Mount Airy City Schools, Randolph County Schools, Rockingham County Schools, Stokes County Schools, Surry County Schools, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Yadkin County Schools.
