Curious about how much that old book you’ve been using as a doorstop might be worth?

Come to The University of North Carolina at Greensboro at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, to find out. That’s when Friends of the UNCG Libraries presents “Book Lovers’ Road Show” featuring antiquarian book appraiser, collector and lecturer Jack Walsdorf.

The afternoon begins with a brief talk on the relationship between libraries and book collecting in the Alexander Room of Elliott University Center. Afterwards, Walsdorf will make individual appraisals (no more than two books per person, please) in the Hodges Reading Room on the second floor of Jackson Library.

Reservations are strongly encouraged, because appraisals will be limited to the first 100 people who register. For reservations, call 336-256-1213. For more information, call 336-334-5880. Parking will be available in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck.

Staff from the University Libraries and the Friends of the UNCG Libraries will be available to lead tours of the library and answer questions about book collecting. Books from the library of Mary Jarrell will be for sale to benefit the University Libraries.

Walsdorf will make another appearance in the Triad at the Z. Smith Reynolds Library of Wake Forest University at 3:30 p.m. April 3. His appearances in the Triad are the result of a partnership between the UNCG University Libraries and the Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
