Faculty members who have given more than 550 years of service are retiring from UNCG.
Chancellor Patricia A. Sullivan honored the faculty at a retirement dinner on May 8. Many of the faculty members are retiring at the end of this academic year or during the summer, while others retired during the year. The faculty and their years of service are as follows:
• Dr. Kenneth A. Byrd, assistant professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, 36 years.
• Barbara C. Carter, lecturer, Department of Mathematical Sciences, 21 years.
• Dr. Patricia A. Chamings, professor and former dean, School of Nursing, 20 years.
• Dr. Jacqueline M. Cimorelli, associate professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, 28 years.
• Dr. Robert E. Gatten Jr., professor and former head, Department of Biology, 27.5 years.
• Robert R. Gerhart III, associate professor, Department of Art, 33 years.
• Dr. Shirl J. Hoffman, professor and former head, Department of Exercise and Sport Science, 21 years.
• Dr. Karen King, associate professor, Department of Public Health Education, 29 years.
• Dr. P. Scott Lawrence, associate professor, Department of Psychology, 35 years.
• Dr. Suzanne M. Lea, professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, 19 years.
• Dr. Charles A. Lynam, professor, School of Music, 42 years.
• Dr. Francis J. McCormack, professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, 39 years.
• Dr. Amy F. (Eleanor) McCrickard, professor, School of Music, 30 years.
• Dr. Robert B. Muir, associate professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, 40 years.
• John G. Redmond, director, Office of Professional Development Programs, Bryan School, 31.25 years.
• Dr. Sarah M. Shoffner, assistant professor, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, 41 years.
• Dr. Edgar H. Shroyer, professor, Department of Specialized Education Services, 28 years.
• Dr. Richard L. Shull, professor, Department of Psychology, 37 years.
