UNCG is offering two classes for working professionals in programs that have become a mainstay for some of the Triad’s largest business organizations.
The Office of Professional Development Programs in the Bryan School of Business and Economics will again offer two sessions of Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Managers and two sessions of the Program for Management Development in the coming year.
During the nearly 20 years that the program has been in existence, 122 companies have sent 628 professionals through the Program for Management and Development. Nearly 50 companies have trained more than 130 professionals in the Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Managers. Customized programs have been developed for VF Corp., RF Micro Devices Inc., Lorillard Tobacco Co., Konica Minolta, AIG United Guaranty Corp., and numerous other organizations.
Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Managers is designed for managers who have limited knowledge of finance and accounting but need to understand financial reports, work with finance and accounting specialists, or utilize financial analysis in planning and strategy.
The program uses casework and small group to focus on the concepts and principles of accounting and finance.
The first session is May 24 to 26, and the second session is Oct. 9 to 11. Tuition for the course is $1,950 and includes all materials, lunch each day and parking. The program may be customized for in-house presentations.
The Program for Management Development is designed for professionals assuming greater responsibility in their organization and who need a broader range of management skills. The program covers major functional areas of business: accounting, economics, finance, management information systems, marketing, and operations management. The program also works to develop other skills important to managers, including communications, decision making, diversity, negotiation, team building and time management.
The Program for Management Development will take place in 14 sessions over two months from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first session begins Sept. 7 and runs through Oct. 20. The second session begins Jan. 31 and runs through March 16. Tuition for the program is $5,650 includes all materials, meals and campus parking.
