GREENSBORO, NC – Seniors majoring in UNCG’s Department of Dance will present “Next Stop … Reality,” a diverse collection of their own choreography, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

The capstone concert, one of two presented by seniors in the department, takes place in the Dance Theater at Walker Avenue and Kenilworth Street on the UNCG campus. Tickets – $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and students, and $5 for UNCG students – can be reserved through the UNCG Box Office at (336) 334-4849.

The program includes:
• “Truly a richer brew” by Camerin Allgood McKinnon incorporates dance into all five senses. Her interest in multi-sensory dance was inspired by her 18-year-old blind brother and his reflections on dance concerts. The dance creates the full atmosphere of a coffee shop, while reflecting on the coffee shop experience through movement.

• “warp became water (you dissipated over time)” by Heather Glasgow Doyle explores the ebb and flow of memory as a wave of bodies reaches to the audience. Connections, integral and fleeting, imagined and fleshed out, are at the core of this group work, set to a haunting score by the Dirty Three and the everybodyfields, and featuring lighting design by visual artist Amy Love Beasley.

• “RedRiveRs Run” by Myra Scibetta explores the early stages of human consciousness, peering into the moment where we become aware of the influences surrounding us. Featuring six dancers, the work is set to music from the “Gladiator” soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, Lisa Gerrard, and Klaus Badelt.

• “sO Low: SOULLOWSOLO” by Maiya Silver features the music of Lamb and dancers Amy Love Beasley and Silver herself. The work exposes the internal, contorted lens of self and provides a glimpse of transformation. It evolves from despair to something like liberation by divine intervention.

• “Maison d'amusement,” French for fun house, by Kathryn Zimmer is a unique blend of modern and contemporary dance. Zimmer, a native of Long Island, N.Y., who has been dancing for 18 years, created the work to embody her enjoyment of the art form. Dancers are herself, Rachel Lee DiLeo, Whitleigh Cook, Olivia F. May, Gini Sowards and Trinada Oliver.

• Trinada Oliver and Joel Stroup will premiere new work.
