GREENSBORO, NC – Dr. Robert Wineburg, Jefferson Pilot Excellence Professor in the Department of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been honored by the university where he earned his doctorate.
The University of Pittsburgh has selected him to receive its 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions in Social Work Education. The prize will be formally presented Sunday, April 29.
Wineburg has been a member of the UNCG faculty since 1980. He served as department chair from 1990-94 and has written extensively about social welfare policy. He wrote the books “Faith-Based Inefficiencies: The Follies of Bush’s Initiatives” (2007) and “A Limited Partnership: The Politics of Religion, Welfare, and Social Service” (2000), and co-wrote the book “The Newer Deal: Social Work and Religion in Partnership” (1999).
