GREENSBORO, N.C. – A team of five students from the Bryan School of Business and Economics won first place in the 2007 Chevrolet College Marketing Challenge.
Students on the team were Amanda Bull, High Point; Jonathan Halso, Asheboro; Doug Groover, Naperville, Ill; Peter Kirschner, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Anthony Lambkin, Brisbane, Australia.
The College Marketing Challenge invited students to develop an integrated marketing communications plan about Chevrolet’s fuel-efficient vehicles and advanced technologies targeted to adults 18-30.
The team was one of five finalists invited to Detroit to present their plans to judges from Chevrolet.
As the winning team, UNCG will have their creative materials become part of an integrated Chevrolet campaign and will have the opportunity to intern with Chevrolet or their agency partners. In recognition of the team’s success, Chevrolet will make a scholarship donation to the university.
The team was led by Dr. Norwood McMillian of the Department of Business Administration.
“It’s extremely gratifying to see our students win first place while the competition has increased every year,” said Dr. James K. Weeks, dean of the Bryan School.
Submissions were evaluated based on analysis of market research, market strategy, promotional sales tactics, media plan and creative development of ideas in the integrated marketing communications plans.
