UNCG Celebrates ‘Best New Poets’ Feb. 6

GREENSBORO, NC – Poet and alumna Julie Funderburk will read Tuesday, Feb. 6, as UNCG celebrates the release of “Best New Poets, 2006.”

The reading – sponsored by the MFA Writing Program at UNCG, The Greensboro Review and Spring Garden Press – begins at 4 p.m. in the Faculty Center on College Avenue. It is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception and book signing.

A graduate of the MFA program, Funderburk has poems appearing or forthcoming in The Alaska Quarterly Review, The Greensboro Review, Ploughshares, Third Coast and West Branch. She is included in the anthology “Best New Poets, 2005,” edited by George Garrett.


Funderburk serves as an assistant poetry editor for storySouth and teaches at Queens University in Charlotte.
