GREENSBORO, NC – The university’s endowment – $156 million as of June 30 – ranks 275th among the nation’s colleges and universities, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The endowment grew from $132 million a year earlier, an increase of 18.4 percent. That growth rate ranked second in the state behind only UNC-Wilmington, where the endowment grew 21.5 percent.

UNCG’s endowment ranks third among the state’s 16 public universities behind UNC-Chapel Hill ($1.1 billion) and N.C. State ($412 million). Three private universities in North Carolina have larger endowments: Duke ($4.5 billion), Wake Forest ($1 billion) and Davidson ($422 million).

UNCG’s ongoing Students First Campaign has raised $71.7 million toward its $100 million goal.
