GREENSBORO, NC – The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has received two national honors for its distance learning programs.
The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) honored Dr. Jeff Jones, a UNCG history professor who specializes in Russian history, with a Gold Best Practices Award for online teaching.
USDLA also recognized UNCG’s groundbreaking online videogame economics class, ECON 201, with a Gold Best Practices Award for online technology.
UNCG’s distance learning initiatives are housed in the university’s Division of Continual Learning.
USDLA presented the awards May 9 in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary Conference in Kansas City, Mo. Since 1987, USDLA has been the world’s premier distance learning association. The USDLA Awards program honors outstanding individuals and organizations for excellence in the field distance learning, education and training.
These global awards are presented annually to organizations and individuals who develop and deliver distance learning programs. Included in the recognition ceremony were awards for 21st Century Best Practice, Best Practice for Distance Learning Programming, Excellence in Distance Learning Teaching, Outstanding Leadership by an Individual, Hall of Fame and Eagle Awards.
