GREENSBORO, NC – Dr. Jane Myers, a counseling education professor at UNCG, was recently awarded the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award by the College of Education at her alma mater, the University of Florida.
UF’s College of Education Lifetime Achievement award is given to an alumnus who exhibits excellence in the profession as well as service and leadership in the field and in the greater community.
Myers earned her Ed. S. in counselor education and educational administration in 1976, and her PhD in counselor education, gerontology and rehabilitation in 1978, both at UF.
Myers, who joined the UNCG faculty in 1990, has authored more than 23 books and monographs and 130 articles on counseling. She is a nationally known expert on counseling and wellness issues for persons of all ages, with a special emphasis on older adults.
She received the award May 5 during UF’s spring commencement.
