GREENSBORO, NC - Chancellor Patricia A. Sullivan is resting and recovering from successful emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer that she had Thursday, Nov. 1, at Duke University Hospital. She is expected to be out of the office for approximately two weeks.

Dr. Sullivan’s executive staff will continue to conduct the daily activities of UNCG under the leadership of Dr. David H. Perrin, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Sullivan became UNCG’s first woman chancellor on Jan. 1, 1995, and is the institution’s ninth chief executive. She is currently the senior chancellor in the UNC system. She came to Greensboro from Texas Woman’s University, where she was vice president for academic affairs and had served a year as interim president.
