GREENSBORO, N.C. – Dr. James Thurber, a political science scholar, will speak about political reform in America Wednesday, Oct. 24, at UNCG.

His presentation – “Promises Kept? Are Democrats Living up to Their 2006 Promise to Clean up Congress?” – begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 201, Science Building.

Thurber is distinguished professor of government and director of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at American University in Washington. He was the principal investigator of a seven-year grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts to the Campaign Management Institute to study campaign conduct.

Thurber’s visit marks the second in a series of three lectures held on campus this fall and co-sponsored by the Center for Legislative Studies and the Department of Political Science. The series is entitled “Getting Back on Track? Reforms in American Politics.”
