GREENSBORO, NC – Stephanie M. Walker has been named deputy director of the Center for Youth, Family and Community Partnerships at UNCG.
As deputy director, she will provide leadership in strategic planning, communications and policy development. She also will serve as project director for a new community engagement initiative to increase dialogue, understanding and action on issues of importance to Greensboro’s future.
For the past five years, she has served as principal in Walker & Associates Consulting Inc., advising organizations on strategic visioning, organizational development and project management. She has served as chair of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits and currently serves on the board of the NC Center for Public Policy Research in Raleigh.
She has served on the boards of numerous other organizations including the Guilford College Board of Visitors, the Women’s Resource Center and Changemakers Foundation, a social justice foundation based in San Francisco.
The Center for Youth, Family and Community Partnerships recently completed 10 years of service. It manages more than 25 projects addressing such issues as early childhood readiness and social emotional development, mental health and substance abuse treatment for youth, health literacy, adoption and foster care, the health and safety of communities, and factors that lead to the disproportionate representation of youth of color in foster care and juvenile justice.
The center also works with other institutions and state departments, many times serving as the driving force by providing the applied research that puts evidence-based practice to work in program design, evaluation, workforce development and policy.
