Is this normal? Aliens, teens and Alzheimer's come together in 'Tales of the Lost Formicans.'
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A crew of time-traveling space aliens is on the outside looking in at modern American angst in Theatre’s latest production, “Tales of the Lost Formicans.”
“Formicans” runs Wednesday, April 16, through Saturday, May 3, in Brown Building Theatre. Written by Constance Congdon, the play explores an estranged family who come together only to fall apart when Grandpa becomes increasingly disabled by Alzheimer’s disease.
“If not the best new play of recent years, certainly the most imaginative,” Time Magazine said of Congdon’s dark comedy. "Formicans,” written for mature audiences, provides a hilarious take on mid-life adventures such as raising teenagers, starting over after divorce and caring for aging parents.
Show times are 7 p.m., April 16, 17 and 29 and May 1; 8 p.m., April 18 and 19 and May 3.
Tickets are $12, adults; $10, students and senior citizens; $8, groups of 10 or more and UNCG Alumni Association members; and $7, current UNCG students.
