GREENSBORO, NC – Arrrrrrr you ready for adventure?
Take to the high seas with UNCG Theatre and TriadStage as they set sail on a third season of Theatre 232, a collaborative theatre festival. Be warned: Pirates dominate the scene this year.
First, see the world premiere musical “Bloody Blackbeard,” which runs June 8-July 6. “Blackbeard,” a TriadStage production, features music by UNCG alumna Laurelyn Dossett.
Kids will enjoy “Redbeard’s Revenge: A Child’s Musical Dream of Pirate Adventure,” which runs June 18-July 5. Join the girls at Miss Peevy’s Academy for Polite Young Women as they ditch their lessons on politeness to discuss “pirate-ness,” using Redbeard’s journal as their guidebook. “Redbeard” is co-written by Jim Wren, a professor of theatre at UNCG, and Joe Sturgeon.
Both shows play in the main theatre at TriadStage, 232 S. Elm Street, downtown Greensboro.
Adults can shed their eye patches for a late-night performance of David Ives’ “Mere Mortals,” which runs June 20-July 5. This quirky collection of one-act plays, staged in TriadStage’s new third-floor cabaret space, should make even the most ruthless pirate chuckle.
A summer repertory company of UNCG Theatre students will take part in all three productions.
Contact the TriadStage box office, (336) 272-0160 or http://www.triadstage.org, for tickets.
Or walk the plank….
