Trombone Festival

GREENSBORO, NC – There may not be exactly 76 trombones leading a big parade, but there will be trombones a plenty during the 11th annual Trombone Festival.

The event, which features a full schedule of clinics and performances, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the School of Music.

The event concludes at 4:05 p.m. in the Recital Hall with a gala concert featuring mini performances by each trombone choir followed by a mass, all-trombone performance with close to 100 trombones. The concert is free and open to the public.

Founded and hosted by UNCG Trombone Professor Randy Kohlenberg and Jonathan Alvis, a doctoral student in trombone, this year’s festival will bring together trombonists and trombone professors from colleges and universities from North Carolina.

Participating trombone teachers are:

• Mathew Buckmaster, Elon University
• Michael Butrico, Chowan University
• George Broussar, Eastern Carolina University
• Sherri-Marcia Damon, Mt. Olive College
• Francis Fox, Salem College
• Joanna Ross Hersey, UNCG Pembroke
• Michael Kris, UNC Chapel Hill
