GREENSBORO, N.C. – WUAG, UNCG's radio station, has released “Wooden Anniversary,” the fifth installment of the station’s compilation CD that includes music from national artists and North Carolina bands.
The station, which broadcasts at 103.1-FM, will sponsor a spring record and CD fair on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Weatherspoon Art Museum. The event is open to the public at no charge.
Vendors from across North Carolina will be selling rock, jazz, soul funk, hip hop, indie and punk CDs and records as well as memorabilia. WUAG DJs will be spinning records all day.
The “Wooden Anniversary” CD contains 14 tracks recorded live in WUAG’s studio on the UNCG campus. Three Greensboro bands ? Solid Gold, Invisible and Glissade ? appear on the CD.
“Each year’s compilation CD is like a time capsule of that year’s music,” said Jack Bonney, WUAG station manager. “The CD is a celebration of these bands.”
UNCG is one of only a handful of university radio stations that record live CD compilations, noted Bonney. “It’s an honor for a local band to be on a CD with national bands,” said Bonney. “Our CDs often get air play on college radio stations across the country.”
The CD is $8 and can be purchased from the WUAG website www.wuag.net. It will be available at the Record and CD Fair.
