Speech and Hearing Program Offers Seminars, Screening

GREENSBORO, NC – UNCG’s Speech and Hearing Program at Gateway University Research Park celebrates Better Hearing and Speech Month in May with a series of free seminars and speech and hearing screenings.


Each May, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association celebrates Better Hearing and Speech Month to raise awareness and promote treatment of communication disorders. Common disorders include hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), difficulty with swallowing or balance, stuttering, delayed language, or voice problems.

•  6 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 – “The Adult Voice: Defining ‘Normal,’ Voice Changes, Disorders, and Treatment Approaches for Adults.” Presented by Michael Campbell, MBA, MS, CCC-SLP.
•  6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 – “Nothing to Get Choked Up About: Diagnosis and Treatment of Adult Swallowing Disorders.” Presented by Sena Crutchley, MS, CCC-A.
•  6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 – “The Audio-What? Hearing Loss Diagnosed, Defined and Treated.” Presented by Anne E. Hogan, MS, CCC-A.
