Commons Ground: Buck Elected President of Global Organization

GREENSBORO Dr. Susan Buck, director of the Environmental Studies Program and associate professor of political science, is president-elect of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC).


She will serve as president-elect from 2008-2010 and as president from 2010-2012.


Buck holds a PhD in public administration and public affairs from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. She has published three books, “Public Administration in Theory and Practice,” “The Global Commons: An Introduction” and “Understanding Environmental Administration and Law.” She is a Fulbright lecturer and research scholar.


IASC is a nonprofit association with about 1,000 members worldwide. It is devoted to improving institutions for the management of resources — ranging from the environment to the Internet — that could be used collectively by communities around the world.
