Dance Unveils Fall Season

GREENSBORO, NC – The Department of Dance’s fall 2008 season will include pieces by faculty members Duane Cyrus and John Gamble, music by Frank Vulpi, and the 18th year of the North Carolina Dance Festival.

All performances, with the exception of the North Carolina Dance Festival, will be in the UNCG Dance Theater. The theater is in the Health and Human Performance Building at the corner of Walker Avenue and Kenilworth Street. Campus maps are available at www.uncg.edu/online_map/.

September
• 8 p.m. Sept. 4. Frank Vulpi Concert. An evening of music performed by Department of Dance music coordinator, lecturer and accompanist Frank Vulpi. $12 general admission, $9 seniors and children, $6 students.
• 8 p.m. Sept. 27. Alumni Homecoming Dance Concert. An evening of dance created and performed by Department of Dance alumni. $12 general admission, $9 seniors and children, $6 students.

October
• 8 p.m. Oct. 15-16. North Carolina Dance Festival. The festival is an annual showcase of North Carolina dance artists that travels to six communities. Unique in the country and now a state institution, the event began in 1991 as a weekend of concerts in the UNCG Dance Theater. HELD IN AYCOCK AUDITORIUM. $15 general admission, $12 seniors and children, $9 students.

November
• 8 p.m. Nov. 6-8. Cyrus Art Production. Faculty member Duane Cyrus’ company presents dance and theater in unique and thought-provoking events. Created to test boundaries, the company unites disciplines including dance, music, drama, video and photography. $15 general admission, $12 seniors and children, $9 students.
• 8 p.m. Nov. 20-22. John Gamble Dance Theatre. Choreography by faculty member John Gamble will be performed by his dance ensemble. $15 general admission, $12 seniors and children, $9 students.

December
• 8 p.m. Dec. 5-6, 2 p.m. Dec. 6. Departmental Concert. Faculty and students present an evening of dance. $12 general admission, $9 seniors and children, $6 students.
