GREENSBORO, NC – Emily Quinn presents her MFA dance concert, “Pathways,” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 29-March 1, in the UNCG Dance Theater.

Tickets – $12 for general admission; $10 for seniors, students and children; and $6 for UNCG students – can be reserved through the UNCG Box Office, (336) 334-4849. The Dance Theater is located on Walker Avenue at Kenilworth Street.

The concert features six dances that explore spatial and metaphorical pathways. In “If the Shoe Fits ...” seven dancers explore their hopes through text and movement. “Get Busy, Stay Busy” is a fast-paced, athletic trio set to the music of The Crystal Method.

“I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead,” a solo danced by Quinn, is set to music by Mogwai. “Perchance to fall,” a dance for three couples set to music by Rachel’s, explores tensions and dualities in relationships and within one.

“Going off Base,” danced by graduate student Melissa Pihos, uses text and movement to show a young woman dealing with broken expectations. The final piece, “On My Way,” returns to the movements from the opening piece, now set to the rhythmic drumming of Kodo.

“Pathways” features performances by Quinn and 15 other women studying dance at UNCG. The Department of Dance will present five more MFA thesis concerts this spring. Visit www.uncg.edu/dce/calendar.html for more details.
