GREENSBORO, N.C. –The struggle to establish, maintain and expand Greensboro’s major theater companies will be the subject of a panel discussion at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The discussion will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Room 130 of the Moore Building. The public is welcome at no charge.

UNCG Theatre manager Jody Cauthen will moderate a panel comprised of Greensboro theater entrepreneurs.

Participants include Stephen Gee, co-founding managing director of the Broach Theatre; Joe Nierle, founding artistic director of the Open Space Café Theatre; Michel Sommers, executive director of the Community Theatre of Greensboro, and Richard Whittington, managing director of Triad Stage.

The discussion is part of the Building Entrepreneurial Learning for Life (BELL) Forum Series which is sponsored during the spring semester by the Entrepreneurial Innovation in the Arts program. BELL, a university-wide initiative aimed at weaving entrepreneurship into the fabric of the campus, was initiated in 2007.

BELL is a major piece of UNCG’s Economic Development Initiative. It is the cornerstone of UNCG’s response to the priorities and strategic directions that the UNC Board of Governors has set for the university system in promoting economic development for the state. The approach encompasses business, academic, civic, cultural and social pursuits.
