GREENSBORO, NC – UNCG will hold an Education Career Day Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Representatives from approximately 100 school systems in North Carolina and across the eastern U.S. are expected to attend to recruit teacher candidates.

Education Career Day will run from 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m. in Cone Ballroom, Elliott University Center. The Career Services Center and the School of Education are sponsoring the event. Students, alumni and the greater community are welcome.

Education Career Day targets UNCG students who are seeking teacher certification or pursuing positions in school counseling, library science, social work, speech pathology, nursing, dietetics and administration in educational settings.

The event is also open to UNCG alumni and other interested community members. For details, visit http://csc.dept.uncg.edu/students/careerfairs/educationfairdetails/.

In years past, recruiters have come from Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland and Connecticut to join those from more than 70 North Carolina school systems.

“The job market for educators continues to be excellent,” said Andrea Brooks, an assistant director of the Career Services Center. “The employers who register for this event often have strong needs in the areas of elementary, middle and secondary teaching. Additional needs include specific subject areas in the sciences, mathematics, foreign languages, English, special education, school counseling and speech pathology.”
