GREENSBORO, NC – Public forums have been scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 23-24, by the Chancellor Search Committee to provide opportunities for members of the UNCG community, alumni and others to share input about the search for the next chancellor.
The forums will be held in the UNCG School of Music, located at the intersection of West Market and McIver streets. Free parking will be in the McIver Street Deck. Times and locations are:
(Update 1-15-08) The search committee will have a meeting on Jan. 23 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Benbow Room of Elliott University Center. The meeting is open to the public.
Times have been designated for the various groups to help the search committee organize the comments and suggestions offered by speakers. Preference will be given during each time period to representatives of the group scheduled for that period, but others will have the opportunity to speak if unused time remains at the end of a scheduled session. Speakers should arrive early to sign up.
Committee chair Stephen C. Hassenfelt said the sessions are designed to reach those who want to share their thoughts on the qualifications UNCG’s next chancellor will need to possess.
“We expect to receive excellent, thoughtful feedback from the campus community and from alumni and friends,” Hassenfelt said. “We are hopeful these sessions will provide a convenient way for the many people who care about UNCG to participate in the search process.”
(Update 1-18-08: Baker and Associates LLC has been hired to assist with the Chancellor Search Committee and will have a representative at the forums.)
A web site, chancellorsearch.uncg.edu, is available for those who cannot attend the forums. They will be able to send in their views and nominate candidates by email, or by writing to Chancellor Search Committee, UNCG, PO Box 26170, Greensboro, NC, 27402-6170.
