GREENSBORO, NC – The Princeton Review has included UNCG in its 2009 edition of “Best 368 Colleges,” a guide based on a survey of 120,000 college students.

The book quotes students who praise UNCG for offering a “high quality of education at a significantly reduced rate, while having the smaller classes allowing closer bonds between faculty and students.”

The 80-question survey asked about 326 students per campus to rate their institution and report on their campus experiences. The guide, released this week, is compiled using data collected during the past three years.

In a sidebar to each college’s profile, the book lists topics students frequently agreed on in the survey. Students gave UNCG high marks for its library, athletic facilities and computer facilities.

Other North Carolina schools listed in the guide include Catawba College, Davidson College, Duke University, Elon University, Guilford College, NC State, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill, Wake Forest University and Warren Wilson College. The full list is available at www.PrincetonReview.com.

“In our opinion, each school in this book is first-rate academically,” says Robert Franek, the guide's author. “But their campus cultures and offerings differ greatly. … We believe college applicants need to know far more about schools than an academic ranking to identify which colleges may be best for them. It's all about the fit.”

The Princeton Review, a New York City-based company best known for its test preparation courses, education services and books, first published its “Best Colleges” guide in 1992.
