- Basketball standout Kyle Hines will play professionally in Italy, according to a July 31 story in the News & Record.
- The university ranked tops in The Chronicle of Higher Education's workplace satisfaction survey. Get the details in the July 30 News & Record.
- A front page story in the July 30 News & Record covered UNCG reaching the $100 million goal of its Students First Campaign a year before the campaign ends. An AP item about the campaign ran in other outlets, including the Raleigh News & Observer.
- Andrew Brod, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, was quoted in a July 29 article in the High Point Enterprise about gas prices.
- Sheldon Balbirer, head of UNCG's MBA program, was quoted in a July 27 article in the Greensboro News & Record about efforts to turn a former textile mill in Eden into a banjo museum. A group of MBA students are helping to study the project's feasibility.
- UNCG was featured in a July 27 New York Times item about universities removing telephone lines from dorms. Students use cell phones instead.
- Prevention Strategies, a company founded by associate professor of public health David Wyrick was the subject of an article in the July 25 Triad Business Journal. The university spinoff has signed a deal with the NCAA to help prevent drug and alcohol abuse by college athletes.
- Dr. Sarah Wagner, professor of anthropology, co-wrote an op-ed piece on the arrest of Bosian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic that appeared July 24 in The Vancouver Sun.
- Andrew Brod, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, was quoted in a July 23 article in the Greensboro News & Record about the Guilford County school system setting up e-mail accounts for all of its students.
- Billy Lee, professor of art, was profiled in the July 18 Charlotte Observer and July 17 for WGHP. Lee's sculpture "Vessels" will be part of Olympic Fine Arts 2008, a cultural event at the Beijing Olympics.
- Dr. Robert Brown, dean of the Division of Continual Learning, was quoted in a July 19 Chronicle of Higher Education (subscription required) story about a potential link between higher gas prices and online course enrollments.
- An $862,000 grant received by University Libraries was the subject of an article in the July 14 Carolina Peacemaker. The grant will be used to recruit 12 minority students into the university's library and information studies program and to cover their tuition and other expenses.
- Dr. Charles Courtemanche, professor of economics, was quoted in a July 11 Los Angeles Times article about the high price of gas. Courtemanche's research indicates that a $1 rise in gas prices could lead to an almost 10 percent reduction in obesity.
- Cyrus Art Production, the dance company founded and led by dance faculty member Duane Cyrus, was the subject of a column in the July 3 edition of Go Triad, the weekly arts and entertainment section published by the Greensboro News & Record.
