GREENSBORO, NC – The Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals honored a UNCG administrator, a UNCG Trustee, and two foundations which have supported the university among the recipients of its 2008 Philanthropy Awards.
AFP's distinctive awards recognize the individuals, corporations, foundations and non-profit organizations that exemplify the best and highest ideals of philanthropy and charitable fundraising. Honorees were recognized today (Nov. 24) at the Annual Philanthropy Day Luncheon, which drew 300 from throughout the Piedmont Triad. The celebration was sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, The Winston-Salem Foundation and the Business Journal.
The 2008 awards went to:
Outstanding Fundraising Professionals – Dr. Patricia W. “Patti” Stewart, vice chancellor for University Advancement at UNCG, and Michelle Callaway Speas
Outstanding Philanthropists – UNCG Trustee Randall Kaplan & Kathy Manning and J. Kirk Glenn, Jr.
Outstanding Foundations – The Dickson Foundation, Inc., which is endowing a distinguished professorship at UNCG, and The Kernersville Foundation
Outstanding Emerging Corporate Philanthropist – Stanford Group Company, which co-sponsors the Kathleen Price Bryan Lecture in the Bryan School of Business & Economics
Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist – Board of Trustees of the Natural Science Center of Greensboro
Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers – Jordan Washburn and Philip & Jean Waugh
Lifetime Achievement Awards – John W. Burress III and Dr. & Mrs. John A. Lusk III.
