GREENSBORO, NC – What significance do race and gender have for issues of electoral politics? How can we critically analyze issues of race and gender in the current elections?
How do issues such as the economy, education, immigration, poverty, the environment, energy and foreign policy connect with race and gender?
UNCG will host a panel discussion Monday, Oct. 27, on “Race, Gender and Electoral Politics.”
The event, free and open to the public, runs 6-8 p.m. in the Virginia Dare Room, Alumni House. It is sponsored by the African American Studies Program, the Women and Gender Studies Program and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
The panel will include Alva Jones of the NAACP Student Club; Dr. C.P. Gause, education professor and author of “Integration Matters;” Ed Whitfield, executive director of the Fund for Democratic Communities; and Olga Wright, Republican candidate for N.C. House District 58. Other panelists, including District 58 Rep. Alma Adams, have also been invited to participate.
