GREENSBORO, NC – Do you know where Barack Obama stands on abortion or what John McCain says about the job market? Do you know what your candidate thinks about mental health issues?
It’s not too late to educate yourself. Take control with “Your Sex Life, Your Career, Your Mental Health...Your Vote” – a nonpartisan online resource developed by graduate students in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development.
To educate voters about sexual health, career issues and mental health, students created detailed policy guidebooks that explore the positions and voting records of the candidates for President, Vice President and major state-level positions. These guidebooks are available at www.uncg.edu/ced/vote.
According to Jamillah Jackson, a student in Dr. Christine Murray’s sexuality counseling course, “If you are still not 100% decided on a candidate, this event will provide information about many issues that are covered less often by the media. Even if you’ve decided, this will be a chance to learn more about your candidate.”
Students will also host an interactive exhibit in Elliott University Center, between the bookstore and the food court, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28. They will disseminate information and engage visitors in election-related activities, such as informal votes throughout the day on some of the most pertinent issues.
