  • Dr. Lauren Haldeman, associate professor of nutrition, and Dr. Christopher Ruhm, a health economist with the Bryan School, were quoted in an MSNBC online article about the link between a shrinking economy and an expanding waistline. ( 10-31-08)
  • WFMY reported on the Oct. 28 groundbreaking for My Sisters' House, a home for single mothers designed by interior architecture students. Led by assistant professor Robert Michel Charest, the students will also do much of the construction. (10-28-08)
  • Playwright Tony Kushner, who will speak at UNCG on Oct. 28, and Department of Theatre Head Jim Fisher, who has written a book about Kushner's work, were interviewed by the Greensboro News and Record. (10-24-08)
  • Janice Wassel, director of the Gerontology Program, was quoted in a USA Today article about higher suicide rates, particularly among adults between the ages 45 and 49. "They were children when the divorce rate went up, and their own marriage rate is down. They may be more alienated and isolated," Wassel told the newspaper. (10-21-08)
  • Jim Fisher, Department of Theatre head, appeared on WFDD's Triad Arts Up Close with Bradley George. Fisher spoke about his new book on playwright Tony Kushner. (10-15-08)
  • Dr. Christopher Ruhm, the Jefferson-Pilot Excellence Professor of Economics in the Bryan School, was cited in the Oct. 7 nytimes.com article "Are Bad Times Healthy?" Ruhm notes that economic downturns contribute to healthy behaviors. (10-7-08).
  • The Greensboro News and Record featured an interview with actress/comic Lily Tomlin, who will perform in UNCG's Aycock Auditorium Saturday, Oct. 11. (10-7-08)
  • Read about UNCG's interdisciplinary approach to studying the conection between nurse health and patient care, funded by a $264,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Greensboro News & Record. (10-6-08)
