Kaplan Commons
GREENSBORO, NC – The newly renovated west lawn of Elliott University Center will be formally dedicated as Kaplan Commons. The dedication will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2:30 p.m. during FallFest, which will take place in part on the Commons.
Begun in 2007, Kaplan Commons consists of extensive re-landscaping, new trees and flowering plants, ornamental shrubs, benches, walls, walkways and a new irrigation system.
Kaplan Commons was given to UNCG by Randall Kaplan, a member of the Board of Trustees of UNCG and a past chair of the UNCG Excellence Foundation, and his wife Kathy Manning, an immigration attorney with Manning and Associates, PLLC, in Greensboro.
“The public spaces of a university should be inviting for students to hang out together and for faculty and students to talk,” said Kaplan.
