GREENSBORO, NC – Looks aren’t deceiving. There ARE more students at UNCG this fall.
This year is starting with the largest freshman and headcount enrollments in the university’s history, according to Cindy Farris, associate provost for enrollment services.
“We have had healthy growth with our freshman class and transfers, and we’re very pleased with the numbers overall.” The transfer population numbers 1,444. The freshman class is 2,493.
There are 13,453 undergraduates and 3,250 graduate students for a total “headcount” on campus of 16,703 students. Combine that with the 764 distance learning students and the fall 2008 total is 17,467.
The headcount is 67 percent women, and 7.4 percent of students are from out-of-state. Last year's enrollment was 17,157.
“We are particularly pleased at the ethnic makeup of our freshman class,” Farris said, noting that the percentage of identified ethnic minorities is 30 percent.
She added that the incoming freshmen class has an average SAT score of 1039.
