GREENSBORO, NC – UNCG will honor achievements by faculty, students and staff during two celebrations on Wednesday, May 6, in the Elliott University Center Auditorium.
The University Excellence Awards Convocation will begin at 4 p.m. Several awards will be presented to recognize excellence in teaching, research, and service. Most are funded by the UNCG Excellence Foundation. Honors to be presented are:
• Research Excellence Awards
• Staff Excellence Awards
• Alumni Teaching Excellence Awards, to a tenured and an untenured faculty member.
• Gladys Strawn Bullard Awards
• George and Beatrice Fisher Gerontology Dissertation Award
• Outstanding doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis awards, and graduate assistant teaching awards
A reception will follow in Cone Ballroom A. (Please note, there will be no community buffet supper.)
The Undergraduate Honors Convocation will begin at 7 p.m. Student Excellence Award certificates will be conferred upon juniors and seniors. Dr. K. Porter Aichele, professor of art history, will be the featured speaker.
Displays by students in the Undergraduate Research Assistant program will be on view from noon until 6:30 p.m. in the EUC Auditorium Lobby, with presentations scheduled from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.
