A team cooperates on the ropes course.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – In these tough economic times, businesses and nonprofits are struggling, and work relationships may be suffering.
Team QUEST, a service offered through the Campus Recreation Department , builds trust and team spirit through experiential education.
“What happens when there is so much change and lower morale is that trust breaks down,” said Marin Burton, Team QUEST program director. “Trust is the foundation of healthy relationships, and that includes healthy working relationships. We focus on the relationship piece.”
Team QUEST launched in 1999. The program serves students, faculty and outside clients, at its experiential campus at Piney Lake in southeast Greensboro about 15 minutes from campus.
One option for teams is a high-ropes challenge course. But other less physically demanding, ground-based options are also available.
Team QUEST evaluates clients’ challenges and goals to design the right program. Businesses and community groups pay on a sliding scale, depending on the type of organization and the length of training sessions.
Clients from outside the university include BB&T, RF Micro, American Express, Moses Cone Health System and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
“I view my work with Team QUEST as an opportunity to serve as a link between UNCG and the outside community,” Burton said.
