GREENSBORO, N.C. – Experience traditional Japanese drumming, watch Palestinian folk dancing and taste foods from across the globe – all without leaving Greensboro.
It will be possible Saturday, April 18, when UNCG hosts the International Festival.
The event, now in its 27th year, will run from noon to 5 p.m. in the fountain area of campus, west of the Dining Hall. The public is welcome at no charge.
New to this year’s festival will be an array of international foods available for purchase in the campus cafeteria and a performance by a Japanese Taiko drumming group at 3 p.m.
Annual favorite activities, like the Global Village featuring booths from various countries, performances representing several nations and multiple vendors, will also be available.
“The idea behind the I-Fest is to help educate our UNCG and greater Greensboro community about all the different cultures and counties we have represented on our campus,” said Michael Elliott, director of international student and scholar services in the International Programs Center.
At least 75 nations are represented in the undergraduate and graduate student populations at the university, he said.
In the event of rain, the festival will be held in the Health and Human Performance Building.
