GREENSBORO, N.C. – Anniversaries marked with silver, gold, diamonds and more will be celebrated April 17-18 when scores of alumni of UNCG and Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina return to their alma mater for Reunion 2009.
This year’s event celebrates the 50th anniversary for members of the Class of 1959, a milestone that marks their entry into the Vanguard Society. Their formal induction ceremony will be held during an 8:30 a.m. breakfast Saturday, April 18, in Cone Ballroom of Elliott University Center.
Classes who graduated in years ending in 4 and 9 will also be highlighted during the weekend.
This year’s event features a series of Lifelong Learning Sessions where alumni will be able to return to the classroom to learn more about four themes: UNCG Green, UNCG Global, UNCG Generations and UNCG Giving. Classes range from a look back at the 2008 President Campaign and emerging ideas on sustainability to a presentation on trends in the 21st century and a look at issues facing the current economy.
