GREENSBORO, N.C. — A memorial service honoring the late Chancellor Emerita Patricia A. Sullivan will be held for the university community at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept, 14, in Aycock Auditorium.
Chancellor Linda P. Brady has invited Provost and Vice Chancellor Emeritus Edward Uprichard and Assistant Vice Chancellor David Vaughan to assist her in planning this occasion. A reception will follow immediately. Further details are forthcoming.
Sullivan died Aug. 20 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She became UNCG’s ninth chancellor Jan. 1, 1995, and was the first woman to hold that post. She guided the university as it dramatically expanded enrollment, research, campus facilities and academic programs. When she retired at the end of July 2008, she was the UNC system’s longest tenured chancellor.
