GREENSBORO, N.C. By themselves, the various ensembles from the UNCG School of Music make beautiful music.

Pull them all together and you have a masterpiece worthy of an encore.

The School of Music will host its second Collage Concert at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Aycock Auditorium with a lineup of 15 groups from the school. The concert is a reprise of an event that drew more than 1,400 people to the historic performance hall’s reopening celebration last year.

Concert tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for students and $3 for UNCG students. Tickets may be purchased online at boxoffice.uncg.edu. After Aug. 24, tickets may also be purchased by calling the UNCG Box Office at (336) 334-4849. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more people. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the School of Music Scholarship Fund.

The Collage Concert is a unique opportunity for music faculty and students to collaborate in a performance “which makes for a very energetic way to start off the year,” said Dr. Kevin Geraldi, the school’s associate director of bands and director of orchestral activities. “The Collage Concert is not a normal concert experience – it is much more interactive, with performances that surround the audience presented seamlessly with special lighting.”

The night’s performers will include the UNCG Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Old Time Folk Music Ensemble, Opera Theatre, EastWind Ensemble, voice faculty and piano faculty, among others.

The multi-faceted concert will also introduce patrons to the diversity of musical talent in the school, Geraldi said. “People who normally would only be interested in hearing our faculty recitals get to hear our fine students, people who would normally attend a jazz event get to hear our excellent Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.”
