  • Mark Schulz, assistant professor of public health education, was interviewed on NBC's Today Show as part of a segment on the hazards of driving while texting. In March, a car , driven by a woman who was texting, struck and severely injured Schulz while he was riding his bike on Aycock Street. (8-28-09)
  • Jerry Pubantz, professor of political science, was interviewed in a WXII12 story about the political impact of the late Ted Kennedy. (8-26-09)
  • Nutrition professor Anne-Marie Scott is looking for a Greensboro family that eats primarily fast or frozen food. She wants to give the family a nutritional makeover with a year's worth of free consultations and cooking lessons. A story about her project was published in Go Triad, a weekly entertainment section of the News & Record (8-26-09)
  • A post at Golf.com's Press Tent blog about Vijay Singh's struggles on the greens cited the putting research of Dr. Bob Christina, dean emeritus of the School of Health and Human Performance. (8-16-09)
  • Dr. Andrew Brod, director of the Center for Business & Economic Research in the Bryan School, was quoted in a Fox 8 segment on economic mixed signals from July retail sales figures. (8-16-09)
  • Fox 8 ran a segment on the Woodstock photo collection currently on display in Jackson Library in conjunction with Woodstock's 40th anniversary. University Archives acquired the photos of former faculty member Arnold Doren, a segment of which present a slice-of-life view of Woodstock. Click here for video. (8-15-09)
  • Dr. Lisa Levenstein's commentary on "Old Blockley," a Philadelpha hospital that was a model for patient care, was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Levenstein is an assistant professor of history. (8-6-09)
  • Dr. Geoffrey Baym's new book, "From Cronkite to Colbert: The Evolution of Broadcast News" was the topic of a Buckley Report segment on WGHP. Baym is an assistant professor in the Department of Media Studies. (8-6-09)
  • The Triad Business Journal ran an announcement of a million-dollar gift to the School of Education. The gift, given by the late Dr. Glenn A. Kiser, will establish the Muriel C. Kiser Scholarship Fund in Education. The scholarship is named in memory of Kiser's wife, a graduate of Woman's College and a longtime teacher. Click here to read -- subscription only. (8-6-09)
  • The quest for a better barbecue sauce led Jim Barbour '93, a former drama and marketing major at UNCG, to the kitchen -- and a profile in the Wall Street Journal. Barbour, the co-owner of FunniBonz LLC and creator of FunniBonz barbecue sauce, was profiled in the newspaper's Career Journal. (8-4-09)
  • Scott Milman, director of auxiliary business operations, talked to News 14 Carolina about HEAT, a program that provides bus service to UNCG and other area campuses. “We’ve had about 138,000 rides by students last year,” Milman told the station. “That was an increase of almost 50 percent.” (8-4-09)
  • The Greensboro News & Record ran a story about the Roy Z. Kemp poetry exhibit at Jackson Library in the August 2 People and Places insert. (8-2-09)
