GREENSBORO, NC – The Center for Legislative Studies kicks off its spring lecture series Wednesday, Feb. 25, with a focus on U.S. foreign policy.
Dr. Jerry Pubantz, UNCG political science professor, will speak on “What is Old is New Again: The Return of Pragmatism in American Foreign Policy.” His lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Weatherspoon Art Gallery Auditorium.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow. Free parking is available behind the Weatherspoon.
Pubantz holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University and a B.S.F.S. degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown. His writings include works on the United Nations, U.S.-Russian Relations, the Middle East and American foreign policy.
He co-edited “The Encyclopedia of the United Nations,” and co-wrote “The New United Nations: International Organization in the 21st Century” and “To Create a New World? American Presidents and the United Nations.” He appears regularly on North Carolina television to discuss American politics and international affairs, and is a member of the Middle East Policy Council’s National Advisory Board.
The lecture series, New Directions in American Foreign Policy: Challenges and Opportunities for Change, is sponsored by the Department of Political Science, the Kohler Fund, Lloyd International Honors College, and the International and Global Studies Program.

• “U.S. Security Policy Under the Obama Administration”; Dr. Mark Crescenzi, UNC Chapel Hill; Wednesday, March 25, 7:30 p.m., Weatherspoon Art Museum Auditorium, and
• “Addressing Global Poverty”; Dr. Anirudh Krishna, Duke University; Tuesday, April 14, 7:30 p.m., Weatherspoon Art Museum Auditorium.
