GREENSBORO, N.C. A training session on animal-assisted therapy will be held 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the North Campus of Gateway University Research Park.

Dr. Lin Buettner, a UNCG professor of recreational therapy and gerontology, will lead the Delta Society Pet Partners training, which is for handlers only. Pet Partners prepares volunteers and their pets for visiting animal programs in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, schools and other facilities.

Participants, who are responsible for their own meals and snacks, must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian if younger than 17. No experience is required. The cost is $75, $35 for UNCG students.
