GREENSBORO, NC Dr. Lin Buettner will speak about the benefits of memory loss therapy at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in Elliott University Center.

Studies suggest exercise, cognitive training and other steps can help slow memory loss, says Buettner, a professor of recreational therapy and gerontology. Sponsored by Friends of the UNCG Libraries, her presentation in EUC’s Kirkland Room will be free and open to the public.

The talk will highlight the work of the Alzheimer’s Association’s national task force on early stage dementia and the research of Buettner and her colleagues. It’s never too early to think about memory loss in yourself, your family members and your friends, she says.

Buettner has studied therapeutic programs for older adults with dementia for more than a decade and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and five books. She recently received a grant to start providing therapeutic and educational activities to those with early stage memory loss.

Parking is available for $1 per hour in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck. For a campus map, visit http://www.uncg.edu/online_map/.
