- The Raleigh News & Observer took a look at distance education efforts at North Carolina's state universities. Included in the coverage was a a feature article on UNCG's iSchool, which was created and is coordinated by the Division of Continual Learning. (1-8-09)
- UNCG's distance education program was covered in a news story by WFMY-TV reporter Justin Quesinberry, who interviewed Continual Learning Dean Robert Brown and students who take courses online (1-8-09)
- An article in the News & Observer examined UNCG's bid to open a pharmacy school, which would be the second in the UNC system and the fourth in the state. The others are at UNC Chapel Hill, Campbell and Wingate. (1-21-09)
- WGHP interviewed Chancellor Linda P. Brady about UNCG's proposal to plan for the establishment of a new school of pharmacy - a proposal that has to be approved by the UNC Board of Governors. (1-22-09)
- News & Record Columnist Jeri Rowe focused on the documentary film "With These Hands," which was created by UNCG broadcasting & cinema associate professor Matt Barr, and is being shown at UNCG on Jan. 30. (1-22-09)
- WFMY interviewed Dr. Lyle Gramley, the 2009 Kathleen Price Bryan Lecturer, on the state of of the American economy - and the news isn't good. Gramley spoke on campus Thursday. (1-22-09)
- WFMY broadcast a segment about a science adventure day at UNCG for local middle school students. Faculty members and graduate students volunteered their time to teach the students from Ferndale, Mendenhall and Hairston middle schools. (1-23-09)
- UNCG student Wel Jok's return to Sudan after more than 20 years was covered by the News & Record Columnist Jeri Rowe. (1-24-09)
- The Greensboro News & Record included remarks by Dr. Lyle Gramley, the 2009 Kathleen Price Bryan Lecturer, in its coverage of the state's jobless rate. Gramley spoke on campus Thursday. (1-24-09)
- The Greensboro News & Record ran a story on the UNCG's MLK Day speaker, Rev. Al Sharpton, who spoke January 27 in Aycock Auditorium. ( 1-28-09)
- The Economic View column in The New York Times noted UNCG economist Chris Ruhm's 2003 paper “Healthy Living in Hard Times.” Ruhm found that the death rate tends to fall as unemployment rises. (1-31-09)
