GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Gerontology Program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will host the American Institute of Financial Gerontology June 10-13.
Institute attendees will complete course work for certification as a Registered Financial Gerontologist, a designation for financial professionals who specialize in wealth span planning for older consumers and their families. The institute’s curriculum focuses on the financial context of gerontological issues with core courses examining longevity; boomer demographics and recent financial history; the connections between health, wealth and aging; how ethical and legal issues affect financial advisors and their clients and the challenge of financing longevity to transform accumulated wealth into lifelong income. Certification requires four core classes, two elective classes and a comprehensive examination.
Tuition for the institute, which UNCG hosts twice a year, is $1,500. Registration is available at www.aifg.org. The Registered Financial Gerontologist curriculum is approved for up to 28 hours of Certified Financial Planner continuing education credit.
