  • The Greensboro News & Record featured "Picnic," a world-premiere opera commissioned by the School of Music, in advance of the show's opening night April 2. A multimedia presentation accompanies the story online. (3-31-09)
  • The Greensboro News & Record ran a story on "Freakonomics" co-author Stephen Dubner in advance of Dubner's appearance at the Friends of the UNCG Libraries dinner. (3-25-09)
  • Touger Vang, a Laos native and office manager of undergraduate student services in the Bryan School of Business and Economics, was profiled by the Greensboro News & Record. (3-25-09)
  • A story in the Greensboro News & Record outlined some of the effects proposed state budget cuts could have on UNCG. Another story in the paper detailed how the N.C. Child Welfare Collaborative, a social work training program run by UNCG and N.C. A&T, could be eliminated under those proposed cuts. (3-19-09)
  • The Spartones, UNCG's male a cappella vocal group, will appear on the latest CD from musician Ben Folds. The CD, "Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella!" features the Spartones and 13 other college a cappella groups from across the country. It is due for release in April. Read more on page A6 of the March 13 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education (requires online subscription). (3-13-09)
  • The on-line magazine, Inside Higher Ed, ran a story on UNCG ending its laptop computer ownership requirement that all entering students own a laptop for use in UNCG courses. The initiative began in fall 2006, and the was change was announced on Jan. 13, 2009. ( 3-12-09)
  • News 14 Carolina ran a story about UNCG's School of Education and its partnerships with the Guilford County Schools. (3-8-09)
  • Guilford Woman magazine ran a featurette about UNCG grad student Ariana Moses, director of UNCG Theatre's touring production for kids -- "Go, Dog. Go!" The story appears on page 16 of the March issue. (3-8-09)
  • Keith G. Debbage, professor of urban geography, devoted his column in the News & Record to recent stories in national media that have cast Greensboro in a negative light. Greensboro's place in rankings based on economic data may have more to do with how the federal government defines metropolitan areas than with the health of the local economy, he writes. (3-8-09)
  • Fox 8 WGHP news did an article on using media such as Twitter in job searches.  A Fox 8 reporter did a story and an interview with Scott Brewster of the Division of Continual Learning, who explained ways that the new media can be employed. (3-3-09)
  • Judi Labath, a teacher and interpreter of American Sign Language for the past two years at UNCG, was featured in a column in the News & Record. (3-1-09)
